Owner and Principle Designer
Sara opened her shop in 1994. Over the years her business has grown from a slipcover and custom furnishings boutique into a full service Interior Design showroom where clients can come and experience the classic, timeless interiors that are shown throughout the space. Sara’s design style features materials ranging from elegant and refined to modern with accents of natural textures.
Sara’s projects are primarily residential, specializing in a variety of styles including elegant and formal to more causal second homes, to sleek modern high-rises.
Sara’s work has been featured in House Beautiful , Austin Monthly Home, Tribeza and Architectural Digest.
Ericka Freels
Studio Manager
Ericka is from a small town in McMinnville, Tennessee, and she graduated from the University of Memphis with her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies.
Ericka always knew she loved Interior Design, but it wasn’t until she joined Shabby Slips that she knew she wanted to make it a career. Ericka has been with Shabby Slips as the Store and Design Operations Manager since 2013. She manages and assists on all design projects around the United States and internationally. Ericka is also a partial buyer for the Shabby Slips Showroom. She considers herself incredibly blessed to have found her dream job, and looks forward to many years to come working for Shabby Slips.
Caitlin Giacalone
Design Assistant
Caitlin Giacalone is an interior designer with a passion for creating beautiful, functional spaces. Born and raised in Austin, TX, she was inspired by her grandfather, architect George Norman Hoover, to pursue design from a young age.
She studied interior design at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, refining her skills in space planning, aesthetics, and innovative solutions. Now, she feels fortunate to be part of Shabby Slips, a renowned firm known for its refined yet approachable interiors.
